Pompei the Great’s death

We know already about the great that was Rome in Italy, I think these people is more likely to start the civilization standards ever in history. They implemented such rules that’s really strict that only the state and the people in it should follow. One we knew of was Julius Ceasar, who was I think the most famous leader in ancient Roman Empire. But the sad thing is he was killed by his fellow people inside the empire and that ended his life and his rule forever. Today I would like to tell you an event where in another Roman leader who has somewhat have the same fate as of Julius Caesar.

Pompey the great or Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus was a roman military and political leader in his time, he has achieved success so much in his life, even if he is still young he became very successful in all of his passions in life. He enabled to advance directly to his first consulship without meeting the normal requirements for office. Not only that later on in his leadership he gained the consulship not only once but thrice. Adding to his perspective as a leader, he also celebrated three triumphs or victories all in all against the pirates. It was in Mid- 60 BC when the first triumvirate was formed, together with Marcus Licinius  Crassus and Gauis Julius Caesar. It is also known as a unofficial military- political alliance known at that era.

And on September 28, 48 BC when Pompey was visiting Egypt, the unexpected thing happened. After landing in Egypt, he was assassinated through the order of King Ptolomey X111. It was a day before suppose to be his birthday September 29. It was marked as one of the history’s remarkable assassinations that was known through the orders of a king.

To this day, we really love boxing, especially us Filipino’s who is getting more into it because of our boxing hero Manny Pacquiao, even though he didn’t get the much perfect record as of Marciano, we all like and love him due to the things he gave the country a some kind of reputation. It would serve as an inspiration to all of us Filipino’s knowing that Pacquaio has bloomed from rags to riches. Before Pacquaio was even born, boxing was at its peak, especially in the United States, wherein a heavyweight boxer was making its name, and to add more perspective into it, he was having a perfect record of 49-0 before retiring into boxing. Making him unique, keeping him undefeated until the day he quits.  Today I would like to share to you the last fight of Marciano that makes him unblemished perfect record fighter, that no one would ever achieved or even be doubted by what he achieved in his glory days.

It was September 21, 1955, and the place was held in Yankee Yankee Stadium in New York. It happened to this day due to a postponement of the fight because of a Hurricane. The stadium’s attendance was 61,574. Theatre Network Television drew an estimated $1,125,000 from some 320,000 fans in 129 locations in 92 cities. So it was being viewed by a lot of people, making it one of the most exciting fights in boxing history. The deal between promoters letting Rocky Marciano received $482,374 and Moore got $241,187. During the fight, Marciano was dropped by Moore on the 2nd round, but Rocky bounce back and dropped Moore thrice. And by the 9th round the fight was finished after Rocky knocked out Moore with 1:19 of the said round of 15th.

Moore attempted to become the first Light Heavyweight champion to win a World Heavyweight Championship. But that dream was stopped due to this loss; Moore's record was reported to be 120-19-5, with 82 Kos. The remarkable image of a person to a nation

I’m talking about an image that marked the powerful nation, from it’s unexpected happenings in United States history, the image is of Samuel Wilson a meat packer from Troy, New York, that turns out be later called as Uncle Sam. It all started in 1813, in the midst of the War of 1812. This period, Wilson is the one who stamped the barrels of beef with U.S for the United States. Because of this the soldiers begin to grub it as Uncle Sam’s. A local newspaper picked up the story and later begins to spread and then became the nickname for the U.S federal government.

And about 1860’s one cartoonist named Thomas Nast began popularizing the Uncle Sam image. He is the one who improves the image by putting white beard and stars and stripes suit which most of us know till this day. He is also the one who popularized the image of modern Santa Claus, the imageof both Democratic and Republican party that time. This guy was so famous, because of his creative mind including in his editorial cartoon, which resulted into the downfall of William Tweed.

Another version has made its way through the image of Uncle Sam is that of James Montgomery Flagg. In his version, he vision Uncle Sam as wearing a tall top hat with blue jacket pointing at the viewer. This image has been used in Leslie’s Weekly in July 1916 with the title “What are you doing for preparedness?” this is widely used in World War 1 first used as a recruiting poster. In 1961, U. S government recognized Uncle Sam as a progenitor of America’s national symbol. To this day the town of Troy in New York calls itself as the “Home of Uncle Sam”.

After 73 years The Titanic was finally found

Since 1997 when the movie Titanic starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet was released and watched by public around the world. We could not resist much upon watching the movie all over again because of it’s love story between Jack and Rose on board the ship. But one main thing that keeps the movie memorable is that the tragic sinking of one’s thought to be an unsinkable ship. Thousands of lives has been changed upon its sinking and to this day it touch most of us by it’s stories surrounding Titanic. Its been 73 years when the Titanic was found again, this time at the bottom of the ocean. We would recall what happened when the legendary ship was found again after almost 100 years after.

In the North of Atlantic Ocean, on September 1, 1985, the RMS Titanic has been found it was approximately found about 400 miles east of Newfoundland through the efforts of the U.S- French expedition. It was the well known American Robert Ballard who used unmanned submersible developed by U.S Navy to search for the said liner. The Argo traveled just above the ocean floor, sending photographs up to the research vessel Knorr. In the early morning of September 1, Argo was investigating debris on the ocean floor when it suddenly passed over one of the Titanic‘s massive boilers, lying at a depth of about 13,000 feet. Successfully the wreck has been explored and it was made by and unmanned and manned submersibles. Because of this all the questions would somehow be answered by all the people searching for the reason why did the ship and the stories of all people on board namely the Crew members of the ship and it’s passengers.
